How we compare software, and what we will never do
Every comparison on this site is written from public pricing pages, documentation and our own trial accounts. Here is the method, and the line we hold on our own products.

Where the facts come from
Three sources, in this order: the vendor's own pricing and documentation pages, the product itself on a trial account, and what buyers say on public review sites. Where the three disagree, the trial wins, and we say so.
What a comparison contains
- Who it is for. The buyer each product is actually built for, not the one the homepage claims.
- What it does on day one. The features we could use without a sales call.
- What it costs. Only the prices the vendor publishes. If pricing is "contact sales", we write that, not a guess.
- Where it falls short. Every product has a gap. Naming it is the whole point.
The line on our own products
Some of the tools we cover are built by the company that runs this site. Those articles carry a plain disclosure at the top. The method does not change for them, and neither does the section on where they fall short.
What we never do
We never republish another publication's article. We never use a photograph we do not have the right to use. We never take money for a comparison, and nothing on this site is sponsored.
If you find a fact we got wrong, use the Contact page. Corrections are made in the article, with a note.
